ET1 Templates – How to Use Them to Strengthen Your Employment Law Claim

If you want to file a legal claim against your employer over something relating to employment law (such as a sacking) you need to submit an ET1 form. This is a crucial first step to take in order to ensure you have the best chance of success.

The ET1 asks you to detail the specific legal claims that you want to make against your employer – also known as the Respondent. You will also need to provide a reason as to why you are making the claim. You can do this in section 8.2 of the ET1 or in a separate document called the Particulars of Claim.

Using a template can help to save time, reduce stress and ensure your case is a strong as possible. This is particularly the case for section 8 of the ET1 which asks you to’set out the background and details of your claim’. Providing detailed background information and setting out your case in a clear and structured way can improve the chances of you being awarded a fair settlement figure from your tribunal claim.

The templates below are beautifully crafted examples of the kind of detail you should be including in your ET1 or POC. They can be used as a source of inspiration and confidence to put together your own case or simply copied for use. Just remember that the examples only apply to Employment Law in England, Scotland and Wales. If you are not sure if your situation is covered by the examples it is worth seeking professional advice before lodging your ET1. ET1 Templates
