How to Get Started Diamond Painting Your Own Picture

If you’re looking for a new hobby that’s both relaxing and therapeutic, try diamond painting. This unique craft combines the best of cross stitch and Paint By Numbers, using tiny resin rhinestones to create a gorgeous piece of art that you can enjoy for years to come. With thousands of designs available, there’s something for every budget. And best of all, it doesn’t require any previous art training to master.

If this is your first time trying diamond painting, we recommend choosing a simpler design or kit to test the waters and see how you like it. You can always upgrade to a more advanced kit later if you decide you love it!

The key to successfully completing your diamond art is to be patient and work one dot at a time. This can be especially challenging for beginners, but the results are well worth the effort. To start, ensure that you have a flat surface where you can work comfortably and plenty of bright light to prevent eye strain. Also, it’s important to keep your materials organized to avoid losing any of your precious rhinestones.

Depending on the supplier, there are many different ways that you can apply your diamonds to the canvas. Some provide a printed chart similar to a cross stitch chart, while others print the charts directly onto adhesive cloth. Regardless of the method, you will need the following supplies:

1. Diamond Packs – These little plastic bags contain a number of colors that correspond to the symbols on your chart. Each color will usually have a label that identifies the symbol and diamond color. The more dots in a picture, the more packs you’ll need.

2. Diamond Pen – This tool has an applicator that has a small amount of wax on it. Dip the pen in the wax a few times until you’ve built up enough on the tip to pick up your first dot. Apply the dot to the canvas, ensuring that it is positioned correctly over the symbol. Then, continue to fill in the remaining dots until you’ve completed the entire picture.

3. Tray – A tray is necessary to hold your sorted diamonds for easy access. It should be small and have a clear bottom to easily identify the colour you’re working with. You will also want a separate place to pour out a fresh batch of rhinestones when you’re ready for them.

4. Wax – This will help you apply your rhinestones more smoothly and prevent any stray marks or scratches. It’s recommended that you use a small amount of the wax on your finger to apply it to the canvas. You can also purchase a small bottle of wax online or from most craft stores.

Once you’ve finished applying the rhinestones to your canvas, allow it to dry overnight and then cover it with several heavy books. This will further help the rhinestones adhere and improve the overall finish of your picture. Once you’re happy with the result, peel away the books and display your beautiful creation! diamond painting eigenes bild
